Strong Area Health Center has been part of the Franklin County community since 1986. Many of the staff live locally and have deep family roots in the area. In 2009, 2,083 patients received care at the medical practice. In 2001, we moved into a spacious new home, with help from a team of committed community members who envisioned a more modern facility to better serve the community. The official towns served by the health center are Avon, New Vineyard, Phillips, and Strong. However patients from Farmington and beyond utilize the health center as well.

In January 2003, further expansion was completed and our state-of-the-art dental center enabled Strong to become the first HealthReach facility to offer oral health care. A coalition of local residents and service providers worked with HealthReach for several years to plan the program and seek funding for this important endeavor. In 2009, 1,234 patients obtained dental care at our center.

Situated between the Western Maine towns of Farmington and Rangeley, the town of Strong and its neighboring communities are rural and heavily forested. The local economy relies on natural resource-based businesses and industries. In addition, travelers come to Western Maine to enjoy year-round recreational opportunities, including visiting Smalls Falls, a spectacular set of waterfalls located just minutes from Strong. Snow-capped mountains, vivid fall foliage, and moose-spotting opportunities attract the young and old alike.
