At Sheepscot Valley Health Center in Coopers Mills,we are celebrating 30 years of providing medical care in our community! Our medical providers care for infants, children, adults and pregnant women and served 4,209 patients in 2009. Residents of many local communities including Jefferson, Somerville, Washington, Whitefield and Windsor access family health care close to home. Located between Maine’s capital city and the coast, the health center makes medical care accessible for people of all ages. For those who require hospitalization, we offer hospital care at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.

The health center has grown significantly over the years utilizing six medical providers today, but some faces have not changed. Roy Miller, MD, the health center’s first provider when it opened in 1980, continues to see patients at the heath center today and serves on the organization’s Provider Executive Committee as well. Carol Eckert, MD joined the practice in 1982 and she also still practices at the health center.

Situated near the banks of the Sheepscot River, the health center is located in a renovated church, made possible by the dedication of local residents.  Coopers Mills itself is a close-knit and supportive community that provides an assortment of community activities including public suppers, seasonal celebrations, and civic events. The town is located in a picturesque region of Maine where there are abundant opportunities for outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, swimming and fishing.
